What is the CS Executive Course?
The CS Executive Course, offered by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), is a critical step toward becoming a qualified Company Secretary. This second-level program builds on foundational knowledge in business and law, enhancing advanced skills in corporate governance, legal compliance, and financial management. Combining theoretical and practical learning, the course prepares students for dynamic responsibilities in corporate roles. Completing the CS Executive Course also qualifies students for essential practical training and prepares them for the final CS level, paving the way for a professional career in corporate law and governance.
Understanding the CS Executive Course
The CS Executive Course is divided into two groups, with a total of seven papers. Group I includes Jurisprudence, Interpretation, and General Laws, Company Law and Practice, Setting up of Business Entities and Closure, and Corporate Accounting and Financial Management. Group II consists of Capital Market and Securities Laws, Economic, Commercial, and Intellectual Property Laws, and Tax Laws and Practice. Each paper is valued at 100 marks, making the entire course worth 700 marks. The exams are designed to test both objective and descriptive knowledge, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of students’ understanding.

According to the CS Executive 2022 syllabus, the exam consists of 7 papers. Each paper includes 20% of multiple-choice questions based on case studies and 80% descriptive questions. However, paper number 4 consists entirely of descriptive questions. Before taking the CS Executive Dec 2024 exam, candidates must finish a pre-examination test.
Candidates can register for the CS Executive exam without having to take the CS Foundation orCSEET exam if:

- You’ve finished your graduation or post-graduation in any field except fine arts.
- You’ve passed the CA Final exam, CMA Final exam, or any equivalent accountancy exam recognized by the Council of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, either in India or abroad.
- You hold a degree in Corporate Secretaryship or Commerce.
These alternative qualifications allow you to register directly for the CS Executive exam, bypassing the Foundation or CSEET requirements.
